- It was actually a luncheon talk, welcoming the new officers to the department. Personally, after attending the event, it had really enlightened and given a better insight to me about this new work place. And it was really important because by explaining what the stake holders are expecting from us, we can understand better the role that we need to perform and the way that the organization is heading towards.Talking Points:
- In the talk, the VIP speaker had stressed that in every position we held, there is an obligation to upheld. There are responsibilities to be fulfilled ie like items in a contract.
- In a contract, it'll specifies what we need to achieve in order for us to get paid. Failure to achieve it, means we're unable to honor the contract.
- Adapt to the working culture as fast as possible. The Department have its' own image. Especially in fulfilling clients expectations.
- 'Soft touch' or 'soft skills' is very important. Use the right way to... ...communicate, the right body language to leave a permanent imprint in clients heart how the Department treat their clients.
- It's well known that clients have different expectation of the Department working force.
- Integrity is very important. High integrity will reduce any cost to monitor 'unintegrity' working culture. The concept of integrity in personal application need to be understand.
- Again, thinking creatively and innovative will have a bigger impact if it's done within the frame of integrity. And, to think creatively and being innovative, we need knowledge, and it can only be attained thru reading.
- High Doing = High Thinking, need High Knowledge. By then we'll see a High Performance.
Points to Ponder: - It has always be my working philosophy 'to hit the ground running'. The organization can't wait for us to take time in settling down and getting familiar to the new work place. There's work need to be done. There's dateline need to be meet.
- TRUST by bosses to their subordinates are very important. But, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, misused the TRUST. Having the trust by the management, will ensure the subordinate can take ownership for projects or tasks given to them. This sense of ownership will be translated by the commitment thrown in completing the tasks successfully.
- Thinking ways to not get the job done is unacceptable. We need to think ways to get the job done!
